26 Learning vs Skill Acquisition
Generally focuses on gaining new knowledge and happens when you follow instructions or gain broader understanding of the topic/tool. Skill Acquisition This is when you do things (practice) without having precise instructions and you are able to do them faster (proficiency) or you are able to find the best way to do it (or fix an error) on the spot (experience). “Accidental” Developers/DBA often have spend more time on skills acquisition than learning which may result in learning on the job (after making mistakes and may lead to addition training (=Learning). Rapid Skill Acquisition It is a combination of learning + Skill acquisition (creative).

30 Typical Skills “Paths”

31 How to learn all of it quickly?
Define a fairly clear goal (mini-goals). Calculate Effort in h / time you have per week = number of weeks in will take to complete Make sure your learning is effective! (KEBI Academy?) Good balance between: Learning, Skill Acquisitions and Repetitions (SuperMemo UX). Record time (data) and use it to improve your time. Don’t have time? Start with just 30 minutes a day 5 days a week that’s about 10h a month, not a lot but it’s better than nothing. 5h every Saturday is 20h a month. 30min a day + 5h Saturday is 30h a month. Unemployed? 5h * 5 days = 100h a month.

32 Do It Yourself (DIY) Tasks:
Make a decision: Yes, No or need more info. Check your local market. Set a realistic goal. Calculate effort to achieve your goal. Check your available demand and motivation. Make a Plan (Learning, CV, Job Search etc.)
