Operations and Maintenance Department Facilities Overview 2015/2016

 Replacement of the clocks, bells, and P. A. systems district-wide  Replacing 5 separate systems with a modern technology-based district-wide system  Roof repair – Glassboro High School and Thomas Bowe School  Performed temporary repairs until permanent repairs are completed in Summer 2016  Extensive tours with the architect and his engineers examining all aspects of the facilities needed to develop the specifications for the referendum work commencing Spring/Summer 2016

 District-wide HVAC control and equipment malfunctions  Glassboro High School: freeze-up (January 2016)  Glassboro Intermediate School: lack of ability to control occupancy schedules and temperature controls  J. Harvey Rodgers School: maintaining 2 separate HVAC control systems for 1 building

 District-wide HVAC control and equipment malfunctions  Thomas Bowe School: roof access only for all HVAC issues  Dorothy Bullock School: control issues related to the pneumatic system hindering consistent classroom temperatures

 Continued meetings and tours with the architect and his engineers to complete the drawings and specifications to bid the referendum projects  Utilized school breaks and in-service days to maximize fact finding  More recent meetings have included the District’s Construction Manager, and are finalizing last minute details to prepare for the upcoming advertisement of bids.

 Spring 2016  Extensive demolition of the HVAC systems in the boiler room at Glassboro High School  Summer 2016  Construction of secured vestibules in all 5 facilities  Roofing work ▪ Glassboro High School ▪ Glassboro Intermediate School ▪ Thomas Bowe School ▪ Dorothy Bullock School (roof and gutter) ▪ J. Harvey Rodgers (“A” wing)

 Summer 2016  HVAC work (High School and Intermediate School) ▪ Mechanical and controls at GHS ▪ Controls at GIS  Other Summer work at GHS  Lighting  Replacement of all ceilings  Replacement of fire alarm systems (district-wide)

 There will be a tremendous amount of work being performed specifically at GHS in Summer 2016  This will require much cooperation and patience for a positive end product  Due to the extensive amount of work, not all projects will be completed by the end of Summer 2016  Some projects will roll over into Summer 2017  This could include the following: ▪ HVAC controls at Bowe, Bullock, and Rodgers ▪ Plumbing at Rodgers ▪ Lighting at Rodgers

 I would again like to thank the Board of Education and the taxpayers of Glassboro for their commitment and support of maintaining and renovating the District’s facilities.  Commendations should also go to the fine staff of Maintenance, Custodians, and Grounds employees for our District. With their dedication, our students and staff continue to have a clean and safe environment to come to each day.
