3 History of British Music British music dates back to 1945 when the end of WWII not only brought a special Anglo-American relationship in politics it also started the evolution of musical trends in Britain as American visitors who were really GIs reactivated big band music which then booked themselves a place on the BBC’s radio programmes.

4 History of British Music (continued) As the years went by, more and more trends began to evolve such as skiffle, trad jazz and many more. It was so good that most people still talk about it today. If you ask your parents about what music was like in their childhood, you’ll expect them to say bands such as The Beatles and The Spice Girls.

5 British Music today Today, British music is taking the public by storm with songs that become popular and are named as ‘Official anthem of the World Cup’ and ‘Official anthem of the summer’ to name a few. Some artists have their music videos shown on music channels and kids TV shows like Sam and Mark’s TMi Friday.

6 The British Music Experience The British Music Experience at London’s O2 Arena, Greenwich is ‘Britain’s museum of popular music’ and shows us how dance, rock ‘n’ roll, pop and other music genres have evolved over the last 60 years.
