Engaging youth in STEM activities in out-of-school time is important. It’s equally important that the activities are facilitated in an a way that “clicks” in the minds of youth. Well-facilitated STEM activities encourage youth to be curious, ask questions, and make connections with the world around them. These are essential skills for success in life and are increasingly important in the global economy.
In order to ensure youth are receiving this type of high-quality STEM education in out-of-school-time, Click2Science offers resources to help improve the facilitation skills of volunteers and staff. All of Click2Science resources are free online at ClickSciencePD.org.

2. What’s New About NYSD 2016?
For this year’s National Youth Science Day experiment, Click2Science has partnered with National 4-H to offer new resources to deepen the learning experience of Drone Discovery.
One of those resources is a training webinar for facilitators and volunteers who will be working with youth to conduct the experiment. The webinar will be held on August 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. ET. The goal is to provide facilitators and volunteers with the resources they need to more confidently guide youth in this year’s experiment. This webinar will go beyond how to do the experiment, and help create a deeper and more impactful learning experience for youth when facilitating the NYSD experiment.
After the live webinar, the recording will be available for facilitators and volunteers to watch on-demand and on their own time at

3. What’s New About NYSD 2016?
In addition to the webinar, Click2Science has developed a Trainer Guide for coaches and trainers – or staff who will lead facilitators and volunteers in conducting a successful NYSD Drone Discovery experiment. Using the Trainers’ Guide, coaches and trainers can deliver hands-on, in-person professional development to facilitators of the experiment. The purpose is to provide trainers with an outline to follow when providing professional development.
