3 Statement of Issue Developmental education needs to be revised to increase student retention and graduation rates The following solutions will be discussed: ◦ Leadership Skills ◦ Curriculum Theory ◦ Plan Implementation ◦ Evaluation Methods

Developmental education (DE) is a critical issue; probability of impact: 90% DE students who drop out of college (Pelkey, 2011) Student enrollment who need DE (Pelkey, 2011) Students that enrolled in DE (Pelkey, 2011) Failure to complete 45 credits (Pelkey, 2011) 83%58% 25%43%

Delphi Study ◦ Collects 3 rounds of questionarries to brainstorm future solutions SWOT analysis ◦ Analyzes strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the current program

13 Conclusion Transformational leaders who are experience in developmental education must be at the forefront Curriculum must be developed as a process or praxis to increase learning Curriculum alignment with K-12 would increase the program Evaluating the program with STEEPV, SWOT, and Delphi benefits mission alignment
