Curriculum Goals LANGUAGE ARTS/READING: letters & sounds (review), sight words, writing, grammar, reading, write 5 complete sentences READING: “ Sensational Six” comprehension, phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, oral language, vocabulary MATH: number sense, concepts and operations, geometry, algebraic thinking, measurement *See Successnet handout for passwords S.S. /SCIENCE: Hands on activities

7. Classroom Grades ● Every week we collect two grades for Reading, Language Arts and Math. Grades may consist of assessments (tests), graphs, thinking maps, writing prompts, and Homework participation. ● We collect one grade for science and social studies bi- week. ● Students have started Accelerated Reader. Please send in books your child has read at home. We will type in the title and search for comprehension quizzes. *See Parent letter for passwords.

8. Homework Policy *Please encourage your child to do their best on their homework. Please use pencil. ● Homework is Monday through Thursday. ● Please turn in daily. ● If extra Math(Reteaching) practice is sent home your child may skip the Enrichment Homework paper. ● Participation grades are taken for completed Homework.

9. Attendance Policy ● Attendance is mandatory. ● After an absence, parents must send a note with their child to school explaining the absence. ● Excessive tardiness will result in student referrals.

10. Uniform Policy ● Students must wear their uniforms everyday. ● Please teach your child to tie shoes.
