2 1958  Construction began on a new fire hall, adjacent to property known as Fireman’s Park.  The City entered into a contract to construct a firehouse in the amount of $22,038 and deeded to the Volunteer Fire Department for $1.00.  Quoted in the Wentzville Union Newspaper “the next task would be to deed the property by the fire department to the city. The department had originally agreed that it would donate the ground if the city would construct a fire hall. Construction was authorized by approval of a $25,000 bond issue in 1956. After the property is deeded to the city, playground equipment, belonging to the American Legion Auxiliary unit here, will be removed.”

3 1973  The City installed playground equipment at Fireman’s Park.

4 2005  Parks Department applied for and was awarded a Land & Water Conservation Fund Grant to install a new playground at Fireman’s Park.  Fire District contacts the City and indicates the Wentzville Volunteer Firefighters Association owns the park.  In June, the property was surveyed and it was determined that the transfer of deed never occurred and the property belongs to the Fire District.  The grant was transferred to Progress Park.

5 2006  In March, baseball teams began contacting the fire station to reserve the field for practices.  April 12 th an ordinance passed and an agreement is made between City and Fire District.  The agreement stated the City would purchase 2+ acres within 5 years for the Fire District. The land would be purchased in suitable location for Fire Department use. 2010  July 8 - Joint meeting with Board of Aldermen and Fire District representatives to discuss the agreement.  City representatives continue to actively seek land for the Fire District purposes.
