4 Teacher Leadership SHS Leadership Retreat – July 23 and 24 18 participants, including teachers and administrators A focus on building the capacity for leadership at Scottsbluff High School in preparation for school reform efforts

5 Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum Learning Guides for all English, Math, and Science courses are now complete. Implementation of Learning Guides will be monitored through PLCs as well as administrator walk throughs and evaluations. Essential Learnings were developed for English, Math, and Science courses. Parents of students in these courses will receive an informational brochure when students return to school.

13 Drop-out rates average 7-8%, half of non-academy students. Academies show improvement in attendance, credits, grades, completion of high school, and increased involvement in school and community activities. 8 years after completion students were earning 11% more than non-academy students. Increase in the percentage of students living independently. Nashville Public Schools had an average daily attendance of 75% in 2005 compared to 92% in 2013 and graduation increased from 58% to 78%. (McPartland, Legters, Jordan, & McDill 1996; McParland, Balfanz, Jordan, & Ledgers, 1998; Kemple & Snipes, 2000; Kemple 2001, Maxwell & Rubin, 2000; Kemple, 2004)

14 In Nebraska career concentrators (students taking 3 or more career education courses in one career education program) show a graduation rate of 99%. In the Scottsbluff School District, career concentrators had a graduation rate of 99.19% in 2013-2014. Purpose: › Aid in curriculum articulation and course offerings › Advise in content and industry standards › Provide guest speaking and teaching opportunities › Provide internship opportunities › Provide on-the-job training
