1 Jerusalem A Shared Holy City

2 The Holy Land For around 2000 years this narrow strip of land at the eastern end of the Mediterranean sea has influenced world culture far out of proportion to its small size. Events that took place here have given rise to the three great monotheistic (belief in one god) religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The city of Jerusalem in particular has special significance for all three faiths.

3 The growth of world religions http://www.mapsofwar.com/ind/history-of- religion.html http://www.mapsofwar.com/ind/history-of- religion.html

4 Jerusalem – a shared holy city Tradition has it that Jerusalem is where Solomon built his great temple, Christ was crucified and the Prophet Mohammad visited on his night journey.
