WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT HIV?
2
Using Lethal Mutagenesis to Combat HIV Matt Armstrong G/T Independent Research Fighting Fire with Fire
3
A Brief History Pandemic began in Africa, in the 1940s. Began in the United States in the late 60s under a different name. Gained notice from public and government in 70s and 80s. SEEMINGLY under control today…
4
Clueless Contamination The biggest problem, currently, is awareness! San Francisco still faces difficulty controlling the virus. 65-75% of HIV patients are not keeping their viral load under control, or are not aware of their infection.
6
Sinister Sickness Infection is as opportunistic as others, and spreads rapidly. Extremely severe symptoms include dementia and cancer. 10-20% of urban patients contract a drug- resistant strain.
7
The Might of Mutation Virus slowly evolves physical appearance to avoid immune system. More violent evolutions can still happen. Drug resistance becoming a more evident threat IT IS AN UNSTOPPABLE, UNCONTROLLABLE FORCE! OR IS IT?...
8
Infection Intervention Lethal mutagenesis could be a true cure! Faces several obstacles, but one drug, KP1212, is doing exceptionally well. HIV is not the only disease that this drug is targeting!
9
Conclusion Lethal Mutagenesis may prove to not only be a solution to the HIV pandemic, but a scientific breakthrough in the field of medicine. It not only saves our own lives, but it decides the evolutionary process for one of Man’s most dangerous enemies…but is that right? That is your choice!
