2 Context: Working level demand NHS managers ask for good information to help them manage performance and productivity “Benchmarking Service” requested by NHS stakeholders as a way of making data accessible and comparable

3 What is iView? NHS iView is a free, web based service which provides quick, flexible and timely access to various data areas in health and social care. Registered Users can: generate reports based on a common set of data access and extract data for management purposes drill down into areas of further interest compare performance with their peers The iView service: is accessible via the web (with controlled access) has a user-friendly interface is free at the point of use

Currently ‘live’ and available to NHS staff: Monthly Workforce Data Annual Workforce Census for England, Wales Census is available on Stats Wales Estates and Facilities PCT Prescribing Kidney Care Patient Transport Child and Maternity Public Health Dental Activity Cancer (head and neck) Social Care

5 What is in iView Workforce Monthly? Staff In Post (Contracted FTE, Headcount, Assignments) Staff Earnings (Total Earnings, Basic Pay) Sickness Absence (FTE Days Available & Lost, Absence Rate) Staff Turnover (Headcount, Joiners, Leavers, Stability Index) Broken down further by Dimensions: Organisation Trust Type Staff Group Job Role Area of Work Occupation Code AfC Band/Grade NB - the list of dimensions varies by data group Contract Type Gender Age Band Ethnicity Disability Religious Belief Sexual Orientation

6 How flexible is iView Data? NHS iView enables users to request access to a variety of data in a consistent and flexible format. NHS iView allows you to: Access Information – choose from a variety of data areas. Build Reports – select data to suit your needs. Generate Charts – customise report tables and graphs. Export Data – copy to Excel and manipulate data your way. Save Reports – store your favourite views for future use

8 Access to NHS iView Workforce & OD Director have authorised organisations to access iView Workforce Monthly NHS Organisations have nominated ‘Authentication Users’ who add/remove users online First time users should look at the Interactive Demo and the NHS iView Quick Guide Once signed in users should look at the Important Documents containing useful information about the data you are viewing Many developments in NHS iView have come from User Feedback

9 Can NHS iView data be published or shared? iView Workforce Monthly data is unpublished It can be used for management information purposes All data is rounded to the nearest 5 for information governance purposes Data can be shared with other NHS organisations but may not be published externally Reports can be saved and shared with other registered NHS iView users iView is part of the NHS Employers Equality Toolkit
