OUR BELIEFS – CHRISTIAN MINISTRY By Mackenzie Tweed 8.1 Teacher: Tennille Glover

What do we as Catholic Christians believe? We believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God and the teacher and leader of Christian life and faith. We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is Lord, and giver of life. Catholics believe in The Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Luke 19:38-39) Saying: “ ’Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the LORD!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

How do adherents of the Catholic faith show respect for the environment? All human life and its surroundings are precious, and have been created in the image and likeness of God, Himself. We must protect and preserve what has been given to us. They believe that God has given us this gift of the earth and the whole universe around us for our temporary home and for all of this we should be grateful. (Psalms 24:1,2) 1.The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein. 2.For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the waters.

Why is prayer important to Catholic Christians? It is a Christian's way of communicating with God, asking for forgiveness or strength. It is important because Christian's feel they need to communicate with their Heavenly Father for support and comfort. By praying, Christians can talk to, take their troubles and needs to, and share their joys or sorrows with God, either in Church or anywhere they find themselves. (Psalms 25:4,5) 4.Show me your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. 5.Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; on you I wait all the day.

What are some of the signs/examples that people of the Catholic faith are living their beliefs? The sign of the cross or blessing oneself or crossing oneself, is a ritual blessing made by members of many branches of Christianity. When crossing themselves they say the words, in the name of The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. People of the Catholic faith attend church as an individual or as part of the Catholic community. (John 4:24) “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
