Year 10 Summer Exams 27 th June –8thJuly These are GCSE standard examinations

Purpose: To measure your progress through a real GCSE exam sat in real exam conditions. To inform your teachers what you can and can’t do this year so that they can adjust their planning for Year 11

Study and Examination Arrangements for the Year 10 Summer exams Attend all lessons where you do not have an exam, exam preparation sessions taking place during period 7 (where appropriate) and, of course, your Summer exams. In most of your lessons your teachers will be teaching you examination preparation and revision skills. At the end of morning exams you will be given a short break (where appropriate) before you return to lessons. You will be informed of this and how much time you have by the Exam Invigilators. At the end of afternoon exams you will be allowed to go straight home if the exam finishes before 2:40pm. Exit via Main Reception. Some exams will finish after 2:40pm.

Year 10 Summer Examination Results You will be given these in class by your subject teachers before we break up for the Summer (where possible). We will publish a Year 10 Summer Exams grade card in September which will contain all of your results

General exams advice We are treating these exams as if they were the real GCSEs What if I am ill on the day of the exam? Ask your Parent or Carer to call the school to speak to the Year Team or Exam Team. Please ensure that they speak to someone and not leave an answerphone message on the attendance phone. Come in and attempt the exam if possible – we can sort out special consideration if appropriate and everything else later.

General advice exam arrangements before we start. What if I injure myself or break something on or before the day of the exam? Ask your Parent or Carer to call the school to inform the Year Team or Exam Team as soon as possible. Ensure that whoever is treating you issues a medical note Come in and attempt the exam if possible – we will organise all access arrangements and then sort out special consideration and everything else later.

General advice exam arrangements before we start. What if there are any other issues that may affect my performance in the examination. Speak to us yourself or ask your Parent or Carer to call the school to speak to the Year Team or Exam Team as soon as possible. We will ensure that, whatever the issue is, we will fully support you to ensure your best performance in your examination.

Top Tips about exam organisation… Stick your examination timetable somewhere obvious at home (like the fridge door!) so that everyone in your family knows which day and what time you have exams.
