2 Keyword  A word or phrase that describes a subject or category on which you can search (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2014)  Users can search for images online to insert into their presentation

3 Clip Art  Pre-drawn graphics you can use to illustrate a slide (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)  Clipart is typically inserted in the middle of the slide in the placeholder if the icon in the placeholder was not used to insert the graphic  Have smaller file sizes than photographs

4 Clipart  When adding Clip Art from Office.com, Microsoft does not distinguish between clip art images and photographic images (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2014)

5 Positioning Graphics  Rulers: Horizontal and vertical measures that help you position objects on a slide (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2014)  Smart Guides: Dashed lines that help a user with alignment as shapes are moved around a slide.

6 Positioning Graphics  Gridlines : A series of vertical and horizontal dotted lines that help you align  Guides: Nonprinting vertical and horizontal lines that can be used as guides when positioning objects on a slide (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2014)  Graphics will automatically align to the gridlines by default (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2014)

7 Formatting Pictures  Crop: Take unwanted parts out of a picture  Resizing Graphics  Drag the sizing handles  Aspect Ratio: The relationship of width to height for a picture (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)  Scaling: Sizing to a percentage of the original size (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)

8 Formatting Pictures  Reset: To restore a picture or other formatted object to its default settings (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2014)  Style: Changes the shape, adds a border, etc. to a picture  Picture Effects: apply effects to the outer edge of a picture  Bevel, Glow, Reflection, Shadow, etc.

9 Formatting Pictures  Adjust color: Applies effect to the ENTIRE graphic  Saturation: intensity of color (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)  Tone: The subtle tint of an image’s color, ranging from warmer shades (more red) to cooler shades (more blue) (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2014)  Recolor: A feature that enables a user to select color wash to place over an image or to set it to grayscale, black and white, or washout

10 Formatting Pictures  Artistic Effects: transform an image into something drastically different from the original  Remove Background: parts of the background can be removed from the graphic

11 Compressing Picture  Reduces the resolution of the picture, which in turn reduces the file size of the picture  Reducing the file size of the picture reduces the file size of the PowerPoint

12 Shapes  Can be formatted using the Drawing Tools Format Ribbon  By holding down the Shift key, the user can create a perfectly portioned shape (Constrain)  The color of a new shape is determined by the default shape formatting (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2012)

13 Organizing items on a slide  Order: The way in which objects stack up on a slide as you create them (John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 2014)  Grouping: Allows you to format multiple objects at once  It is not necessary to ungroup the objects in order to format one of the objects

14 Photo Album  Feature that creates a picture slide show  Some presentations cannot be converted to a photo album
