3 SMCHS Vision 1.The arts are an essential component to the overall educational experience. 2.SMCHS provides one of the foremost training programs for aspiring performing and visual artists. 3.SMCHS is committed to a performing arts center to optimize student learning and prepare artists for life in the 21 st century. 4. SMCHS Arts Programs allow our students to explore their creativity, celebrate the arts, grow in faith, and share their talents with the community. 5.The ultimate goal is creating good citizens capable of understanding, appreciating, and advocating for the arts in society.

Before September 2014 Diocese moratorium on fundraising (Christ Cathedral project) Fundraising that totaled $50,225 over several years September 2014 Advised to stop everything We owed it to donors to have plans drawn up Sought a roll out event Compromise with Diocese based on moratorium Roll out event for donors only Error which caused communication breakdowns

Temporarily create additional space and relieve impact during 2015 “Hello, Dolly!” and 2016 “Guys and Dolls” –Rent tent for behind dome –Rent Wardrobe Trailer –Rent Bathroom Trailer Fence removed around dome Install doorway in Black Box Concrete behind dome (engineer/drainage) T-8 new flooring Costs absorbed by school

8 2016 Summer Project $202,000 (budgeted and fundraised combo) Remove concrete risers in band room 50 Wegner chairs for T8 and band room Cart stand/handbell tables, guitar storage, percussion and instrument storage Resurfacing/strengthening of floor in Dome Office space renovation Choir room floor

9 Successes PE Credit for spring production of “Guys and Dolls” “When Eagles Soar” school tour Talon Theater Thespian Troupe named State of CA Honor Troupe $9,599 raised on March 21 Consultant hired to promote Visual Arts in community

10 What am I working on? Updated five-year budget and financial forecast Visiting high schools and performing arts buildings Bring back Eagles Arts Magazine for 16-17 school year –2 publications a year (fall and spring) Updated Master Facility Plan –Space is a limited –Meet needs of various constituents on campus to improve student learning experience Center for Performing Arts is a priority in this master plan

11 Reality of Work Ahead Updated five-year financial forecast with Finance Committee (April 27) Updated Master Facility Plan (16-17 school year) Program verification tied to Master Plan (16-17 school year) Feasibility study and Diocesan approval for launch (2017) Capital Campaign begins (2018) Amount to raise TBD Shovel ready (2024-2026) *All dates subject to change based on Diocese, school enrollment, economy and other unforeseen factors. CAN BE FAST TRACKED WITH $15 Million Donation!
