7 Definition of Key Terms  Desktop Computer-  Laptop- Each have built in hard drives. Also possible to plug in an external hard drive for extra storage. Computer Hardware – The physical components of a computer that you can actually touch; the guts of the computer (motherboard, CPU, hard drive, monitor, keyboard, mouse).

9 Definition of Key Terms  Software – the programs or applications used on your computer, such as games, iTunes, Windows Media Player, Microsoft Word (Suite), etc.  Operating System - A set of programs that manage and direct computer hardware. You cannot use a program or application without an OS.

10 Definition of Key Terms  Browser - A web browser is a software application for accessing the internet. Broadband Internet Connection – High speed internet/network access.

24 Disadvantages of Cloud Computing  Subscription based  Security and Privacy- data ownership  Relies totally on network/internet connection. Doesn’t work with low speed.  Customer Service model is not as established.

25 Safety  Your password is only as secure as the least protected site that you use.  Don’t use one password for everything! 3-2-1 Rule:  Keep 3 copies of any important file (a primary and two backups).  Store on 2 different types of media (such as hard drive, USB, or in the cloud).  1 copy should be stored offsite (and/or at least offline).
