1 Quest Learning and Assessment Quest is an online homework delivery and grading system created and maintained by the College of Natural Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin.

2 Signing Up for Quest Two “one-time” things to do: 1. Get a UT Electronic ID (UT EID) 2. Enroll in the course After enrolling, log-on to Quest using your new UT EID and password to: – View and/or print assignments – Submit answers to questions

3 Get a UT EID (step 1 of 11) Go to this address: https://quest.cns.utexas.edu/student/main Click on the Get Started arrow.

4 Get a UT EID (step 2 of 11) Click on I need a UT EID.

5 Get a UT EID (step 3 of 11) Click on Get a UT EID.

6 Get a UT EID (step 4 of 11) Read the dialog box Getting Started. Click on Continue.

7 Get a UT EID (step 5 of 11) Answer “no” to the questions by clicking on the radio buttons. Click “Continue” when finished.

8 Get a UT EID (step 6 of 11) Fill in the following fields with the same information that is on school records: – First Name – Middle Name – Last Name Also required: – Date of Birth – Email Address – Verify Email Address No other information is necessary. Double-check spelling, etc. Click Continue when finished.

9 Get a UT EID (step 7 of 11) At this point you will see ONE of the screens shown on this slide. Click on the screen that you see on your computer to go to the appropriate instructions.

10 Get a UT EID (step 8a of 11) Follow these instructions CAREFULLY! You may click “Claim” IF and ONLY IF: – You have previously signed up at the UT HW service and the EID shown is yours. – You have applied to UT and the EID shown is yours. If NEITHER option above is true, click on I don’t see my UT EID.

11 Get a UT EID (step 8b of 11) Select the following security questions from the drop down menus (they are the easiest to remember and no spelling must be remembered): – “What was your favorite sport as a teenager?” – “How many brothers and sisters do you have?” – “What is your favorite color?” Answer the questions and commit them to memory. – Quest will ask these security questions if you forget your password, need to reset it, or get locked out. Click on “Continue” when finished.

12 Get a UT EID (step 9 of 11) Read the requirements for a password CAREFULLY. – 8-20 characters – Combination of letters and numbers – case-sensitive (keep lower case) – Blanks, name, birthday NOT allowed Choose a password and type it in in both boxes. Type a “hint” that will help you remember your password. Your instructor does NOT have access to your password so make sure you write it down in a safe place. Click Continue when finished.

13 Get a UT EID (step 10 of 11) Check the information listed on the page VERY carefully. If any information is INCORRECT, go “Back” and correct it before proceeding. You may print this page for your records if you like. If all of the information on the page is CORRECT, click on Create My UT EID.

14 Get a UT EID (step 11 of 11) Write down your UT EID and password – you will use them every time you log-on to Quest to view homework and submit answers. You may print this page for your records if you like. Click on Logon using your UT EID when you are finished.

15 Enroll in a Course (step 1 of 5) Type your UT EID and password into the appropriate box. – Remember that passwords are case- sensitive! Click on Log In when you are finished.

16 Enroll in a Course (step 2 of 5) A pop-up window should appear that tells you that you have successfully logged on. Close the box by clicking OK. Click on “Enroll in new course”.

17 Enroll in a Course (step 3 of 5) Type in the unique number given to you by your teacher. AP Phys 838446 Click Lookup Course info.

18 Enroll in a Course (step 4 of 5) Check the course information to make sure you are enrolling in the correct course. Click on Request enrollment.

19 Enroll in a Course (step 5 of 5) A pop-up window will say, “Your instructor will process the request.” Close the box by clicking “OK”. After your instructor has had time to process the request, refresh the page or log-in at a later time. Your course now appears on the page.

20 Enrollment Completed Once your instructor processes your request you are enrolled in a course on the Quest Learning and Assessment page. To access your assignments, choose from the drop down menus or click on your course title. The site is intuitive and most people have little or no trouble navigating it. To learn how to view, print, and submit answers to homework (and get some valuable advice) please view the next slide show on Quest.
