4 PLAYOFFS We’ve moved to a one day tournament style playoff Why? 1.Add value through a double elimination format versus single elimination as in 2015 2.Beer Garden/Tournament Atmosphere = More Fun! 3.Consolidate bookings so that playoffs aren’t a moving target 4.Set the schedule (outside of rainouts) in stone so teams can plan Easton Playoff Day – August 6 th Centennial Park Tuxedo Playoff Day – August 13 th Centennial Park Worth Playoff Day – August 20 th Centennial Park

5 FAQ QUESTIONS WE GET ALL THE TIME Am I allowed to bunt? No – there is no bunting in softball Am I allowed to slide? Yes – except into home. There is no touching the plate at home by the runner, that’s what the commitment and home base lines are for. Am I allowed to steal? No – there is no stealing in softball (yes, some league do it, but not this one) Team Composition? 7-3 This means that if you have 7 females on the field, you must have 3 males on the field or vice versa. Rainouts? Will be handled by the office and your schedule will be updated as soon as possible with the new date. Forfeits? A.Don’t do it if at all possible. It affects more than just your team B.If you aren’t going to have enough players – please let us know well in advance so we can notify the other teams C.If you show up and another team does not, enter the score as 15-0 and make a note (forfeit) Rules are on the website www.softballcalgary.com - under your division

6 THE MOST MISUNDERSTOOD RULE THE EXTRA PLAYER! EP (extra player) is permitted in this league. Using the Extra player parameters in that the lower numbered gender is represented as the eleven batting player as EP11 and the 12th player in the batting order can be either gender. After 12 players in the batting order, any other players on the scoresheet are considered substitutes and substitution rules apply thereafter. This does not mean you have 12 fielders! Still only 10!!! The EP’s are batters that can be used in the field (through rotation of players)as part of the 10! Substitutes are not EP’s!

7 EQUIPMENT Your fields are fenced, lined and dragged by the City of Calgary Bases are supplied Each team receives 1 dozen balls (Worth Hot Dot Core 52) Each team receives 1 scorebook Each team received 1 rule book (plus additional/special rules are outlined on the Softball Calgary website. Bats must have the approved stamps to be deemed legal. Please contact the office if you are worried your bat doesn’t comply. We can check.
