2 Success criteria All students will recognise the past exam questions related to aims, theory and fieldwork. Most students will understand the marking criteria related to a 12 mark question. Some students will be able to apply their knowledge to achieve high level 2 answer (8-10 marks).

4 Where do the questions come from? How important was location in the choice of aim? How important was the theory in the choice of aim? How important was theory in the choice of location? In the light of your aim why was the location selected? Why was/were the aim/hypothesis(es) chosen? Past exam questions Jan 2010 State the aim(s) of your investigation. 1 Describe the location of your fieldwork investigation and explain its relevance to the aims (12 marks) June 2010 State the aim(s) of you investigation Explain the reasons way you selected this aim for the investigation (10 marks) June 2011 State the aim(s) of your fieldwork investigation. Explain how the location of your fieldwork was relevant to the theory / concept / issue being investigated. (8 marks)

Describe the location of your fieldwork investigation and explain its relevance to the aims (12 marks) 2 elements required; The location and its relevance to the choice of aim The locations needs to be suitable to the aim, thus must be clear description of the location All links to opening aim (s) will be credited Relevance of location will be explained to with the underpinning theory Situation: locate at a broader scale and the specific characteristics If only refer to the accessibility factors only level 1 can be achieved. Suitability of Psammoseres can be accepted

6 Activity Using the mark scheme and the plan write your answer. Review with checklist Level 2 answer 6-10 marks  Clear reference to both location and aim (s)-but one more clear than the other  Each point is explained clearly-but does not always link back to the aim(s)  At the upper end (8-10 marks) clear link to both location and aim  Reference to the fieldwork investigation undertaken throughout If all 4 ticked mark against Level 3 provided. If none ticked refer to level 1. If any of level 2 ticked give yourself a mark.
