3 Generate and Segment your List Top Donors-  Determine if there are any people that would warrant a face-to-face visit.  Determine if there are any people that would consider giving a challenge gift.

Choose your format and your font carefully Indent each paragraph and double space between each one— it's easier on the eye, so is using Georgia or Times Roman fonts Start with a personal hello anything but dear friend Begin the letter with thank you for a previous contribution/a story about a child Emphasize the positive Do not use words such as no, not,never Tips on letter writing

11 Clear call to action Include the date for a timely response A specific amount of your request encourage a larger gift A donation process that makes it easy to give tell donor to write check out to BGC and place in the enclosed envelope. Include website address encourage the donor to make the donation on line Thank the readers for being willing to help Sign each letter Add a P.S.! can be an effective place to rephrase your donation request or perhaps invite readers to consider donating a lesser amount Tips on letter writing
