To allow Parents to provide feedback on the information presented during this evening in helping to shape a clear, robust and transparent action plan.

5 Local Authority context and actions Cheshire East has a very small number of schools currently in an Ofsted category. It has a very good track record of removing schools from the Ofsted category in the shortest time possible. (ranging from 12-24 months) The DfE expect a school that has been placed into an Ofsted category of Special Measures to become a sponsored academy.

6 The LA is required to write a ‘Statement of Proposed Action’ outlining the decisive actions planned to address the areas of weakness. –This statement has to be sent to Ofsted for approval and requires very specific and detailed external monitoring arrangements –Schools in Special Measures receive an HMI monitoring visit 6 weeks after the full inspection to ascertain whether the LA Statement is ‘fit for purpose’. –And subsequent termly visits until the school is no longer judged as requiring Special Measures or has become a Sponsored Academy

7 What happens now? An acceptance from everyone involved with the school that the identified weaknesses have to be addressed. Direct and decisive Local Authority interventions; The appointment of an Executive Head Teacher to work in school 3 days per week to help provide strong leadership for the school. (w/b 16/3) The commissioning of a Safe Guarding review (25/2) The commissioning of an External Review of Governance (5/3) The brokering of additional support from External Visits consultant (Staff training 23/3)
