The Pros and Cons of Burning Fossil Fuel

Coal Power  The combustion of coal in a steam engine releases a substantial amount of carbon in the air which may cause lethal to both our atmosphere and wildlife.  Coal is also plentiful and proves to be very useful in powering today’s society.

Oil Power  Using oil as fuel to burn into an internal combustion engine and keep pressure going. Oil power is a lot like coal in the way it is burned, but it produces different results.  Oil power is the most common power coming from vehicles. Long term, it can be dangerous to the environment.

Wind Power  Wind power is desirable by many due to the fact that it gives power without taking fuel or ruining the atmosphere.  However, Wind power doesn’t give off nearly as much power as the other.

Solar Power  Solar power creates a sufficient amount of energy, but the cost of materials to use solar power makes it undesirable to use this source of renewable energy.  Solar plants don’t give enough output for the amount they cost.

Nuclear Energy  Nuclear fission heats up plutonium in a thermonuclear reactor to create power.  Fission is such as a small bomb going off which gives off smog.  There are many rumors regarding nuclear power making it undesirable by society.

Hydro Power  Falling water running through a turbine spinning a wheel.  Hydro Power is truly efficient, but the excessive amount of falling water can only be found in certain places of the world such as they Hoover Dam or Niagra Falls

Efficiency of Power
