5 With a partner: Read pages 109 (starting at Trying Again) –page 111. After reading the entire section, reread and answer the questions in your notebook. Raise your hand if you need help!

16 Welcome to the Constitutional Convention! Read your biography carefully. Are you from a big state or a small state? What are your views on the 2 major issues? Issue 1: How should big and small states be represented in the new government? Issue 2: Should slaves be counted as part of a state’s population?

18 How should big and small states be represented in the new government? Option A: the number of representatives a state sends to Congress will depend on the state’s population Option B: Each state will have equal representation in Congress, regardless of the state’s size. Option C: the legislative branch should have 2 houses. In the first house, all states should have an equal vote. In the second house, representation should be based on the size of its population.

19 Should slaves be counted as part of a state’s population? Option A: count slaves as property to be taxed like other property Option B: count slaves as people to determine representation in Congress Option C: Count slaves as both people for representation in Congress and property for taxation Option D: Do not county slaves as either people for representation or as property for taxation

20 Journal Entry of a Delegate: On the left side of your notebook, write a journal entry describing your experience in the convention. What issues were debated? How did you feel about these issues? Did you agree with how the convention voted? Include details about the convention from your notes and class!
