ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS Timber-lee’s live animal presentation introduces students to a variety of animals, up close and personal. Students explore animal classification, and unique characteristics, while uncovering the values we place on creatures.

WILDERNESS SURVIVAL Students will learn wilderness survival techniques using hands-on, problem-solving strategies. This is a team-building experience as well, allowing them to learn the importance of trust, compromise, initiative, and follow through.

ANIMAL TRACKING Students work together to learn how to identify animal tracks and make a plaster cast of an animal track.

WINTER POND STUDY The students learn about the annual cycles ponds and shallow lakes go through by observing the frozen condition of the pond, measuring water temperature and ice thickness, and by collecting water samples to be examined for oxygen levels. Animal and plant needs are explored. Data is compared and analyzed as to long- and short-term health using data collected in the previous class.

ORIENTEERING Students are introduced to the orienteering compass. They receive background information before going outside to navigate through a compass circle.

LEATHERCRAFT The students make a leather item. Under the direction of Timber-lee staff, they are instructed in the proper way of stamping and staining leather. They are challenged to the best job possible. There are a wide variety of leather crafts available and a maximum of 40 students are allowed per session.

TRAIL RIDES A guided ride on horseback, along the trails of the 600+ acre camp. This is a one hour trip that would take the place of one of the free times, at teacher/camp personnel discretion. This activity requires an additional fee of $14.00, to be paid in cash separate from camp fees before departure. There will be a permission slip provided for this extra activity.
