3 What is the difference between search engines and web directories Search engines organize info by keywords. Their reference filters tend to go towards the most visited sites as opposed to the most accurate. Web directories index information from various editors who specialize in a particular subject area. They list information by subject headings and alert users to related terms. Web directory supervisors approve all sites for accuracy, potential bias and last date updated.
