2 How does ERES use Title I Funds? Human Resources: Title I Instructional Coach and Parent Liaison Professional Development: SMART Phonics Technology Resources: Brain Pop, IXL Math, and iPads*

3 How does ERES participate in Title I? a comprehensive school reform model designed to generate high levels of academic achievement in core content areas for all students, especially those who are not mastering state academic standards.

4 Schoolwide Program Requirements This schoolwide program requires that a school: Meet a 35%-40% poverty threshold (APS requirement); Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment; Identify and commit to specific goals and strategies that address the identified needs; Create a comprehensive plan, which includes the 18 Implementation components; and Conduct an annual evaluation of the effectiveness of the schoolwide program and revise the plan as necessary.

5 Schoolwide Program Components 18 Implementation Components Required in the Plan: 1.Comprehensive needs assessment 2.Schoolwide reform strategies 3.Instruction by highly qualified staff 4.High quality professional development 5.Strategies to increase parental involvement 6.Transition plans 7.Teachers involved in academic assessment decisions 8.Effective, timely, additional assistance 9.Coordination and integration 10.Interpretation of student assessment results 11.Disaggregation of student achievement data 12.Disaggregated data results are reliable and valid 13.Public reporting of disaggregated data 14.Plan developed during one year period 15.Plan developed with community, teachers, parents, administrators 16.Plan available to the LEA, parents, and public 17.Plan translated into other languages 18.Plan must follow School Improvement Section 1116

6 Requirements to Keep in Mind... Schoolwide programs are not relieved of requirements relating to health; safety; civil rights; student and parental participation and involvement; services to private school children; maintenance of effort; comparability of services; or distribution/receipt of funds to SEAs or LEAs.

7 Benefits of Schoolwide Programs Flexibility – combining resources, serving all students, redesigning the school and its services. Coordination and Integration – reduction in curricular and instructional fragmentation. Accountability – clear and coordinated; all students are responsible for achieving the same high standards. Unified Goals – schoolwide programs bring parents, the community, and the school together to redesign and improve the school.

11 Who is our Parent Liaison? Syra Pethel- She will work with our parents to increase parental involvement, by doing workshops and other outreach activities. Her hours are 9:00a to 1:00p M-Th.
