12 Council Conclusions: transport sector "…it is important to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and risks related to fossil fuel dependency in the transport sector. …The European Council therefore invites the Commission to further examine instruments and measures for a comprehensive and technology neutral approach for the promotion of emissions reduction and energy efficiency in transport, for electric transportation and for renewable energy sources in transport also after 2020."

17 Conclusions The EU is focusing on delivery of its 2030 targets which are consistent with a 2 degrees pledge Paris means that by 2020 a further pledge may be needed The Commission is working on a strategy for transport decarbonisation Review of the Renewable Energy Directive due end of 2016 should cover transport fuels
