4 Be sure to apply to more than one college: #1- College should be your “Oh My Gosh” college. #2- Should be your “Maybe/Probably” college. #3- Should be your “No Problem” College

6 College Admissions Colleges look primarily at: GPA & Class rank Entrance Exams (SAT and ACT) Then they consider: H.S. course load, community service, extracurricular involvement, projects, letters of recommendation

7 Requesting Transcripts See Mrs. Phelps the registrar to: Order transcript(s) - $2 for officialtranscript(s) Give a minimum of 48 hours before deadline

8 Teacher/Counselor Recommendation Letters Fill out student information for recommendation form Teacher/Counselor need : Up to 2 weeks to prepare Provide an addressed envelope with stamp if need to be mailed Thank you note!

15 Complete application in January of senior year. Estimates your family’s ability to contribute to your education. (EFC) Lets you know if you are eligible for federal grants, loans, or work study. Results are sent to the college to determine if you qualify for additional money. www.fafsa.ed.gov

Make a resume Volunteer Get involved in your school Study, study, study Start thinking about where you are going and what you want to do with your life Sign up to take your ACT or SAT Look at and analyze your ASVAB results for ideas about your interests, strengths, and weaknesses If it is to be, it’s up to me!

17 Pass/Fail  Course not one of the 26 required credits  Up to 8 semesters  Grades from these courses are excluded from GPA and rank calculation  Numeric grades are reported on progress reports and report cards for eligibility purposes.  Conference with your Counselor before deciding if Pass/Fail is right for you  Follow application requirements and deadlines Pass/Fail is advantageous for only a small percentage of students. Due date to turn in forms for this semester is Nov. 6, 2015, 3pm. No Exceptions!
