6 FOUNDATION: INTRODUCING INTERNATIONALISM What you should be doing: An international audit of your current international activities Writing a basic international policy Assigning an International Coordinator/Committee Signing up on the Global Gateway to find an international partner school The evidence you have to provide is: Online submission of letter of intent to internationalism in your school Details of a few completed/started international activities (optional) You submit this evidence via the online form http://schoolsonline.britishcouncil.org/International-School-Award You will get the results of your application within one month http://schoolsonline.britishcouncil.org/International-School-Award

7 INTERMEDIATE: DEVELOPING INTERNATIONALISM What you should be doing: Up-to-date international audit Finalising your International Policy – thinking about aligning it with your School Development Plan Finalising the International Coordinator/Committee job description The evidence you have to provide is: Details of at least one international partner school you collaborate with Online details of three completed/started curricular activities involving approximately 50% of pupils from across the school You submit this evidence via our online form http://schoolsonline.britishcouncil.org/International-School-Award You will get the results of your application within one month http://schoolsonline.britishcouncil.org/International-School-Award

8 FULL ISA - THE AWARD Accreditation for three years Certificate and use of logo on school website, stationery and promotional material Acknowledgement from peer group of educators and British Council of high standards of international work networking opportunities ISA accredited schools are ‘champion ambassadors’ for internationalism in education

9 FULL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD What you should have in place: A finalised international policy within the school development plan A finalised job description for your international coordinator/committee At least 7 curricular international activities planned for upcoming academic year At least 75% of pupils across the school involved A partnership with one or more schools in another country/ies, involved in collaborative work

10 FULL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD What you need to do: Check your International Policy and International Coordinator’s job description Submit an online action plan by the next deadline – List your international partner schools List 7 curricular international activities over the next academic year with brief aims & outcomes Remember to list involved partner schools, subjects & student numbers in each activity

11 FULL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD An adjudication panel will assess your online application – you will receive your results within a month of the deadline closing with feedback. Application successful? Congratulations!. Start collecting evidence Complete and submit an online self evaluation form by July

12 HOW TO APPLY Do an audit of international activities Choose which category you wish to apply for Download/complete the relevant guidance and application forms at Complete and send to the British Council No deadlines for Foundation/Intermediate stages Next Full ISA online application deadline – 30 November 2011 Contact British Council or LA advisor for any help/advice/clarification
