Who Is A Spiritual Man? 1 Corinthians 2:12-16

Natural/Spiritual Contrast  The difference rests on reception (1 Cor. 2:12)  “The spirit of the world”  “The Spirit who is from God”  This is done by choice (1 Cor. 1:18; 2:14; 14:37)  How will the difference be manifest?

Comparison Natural Man Trusts Himself Seeks glory for self Is his own savior Spiritual Man Trusts God Seeks glory for God Has Christ as Savior

Attributes Natural Man James 3:14-16 Jealousy Selfish ambition Discord Spiritual Man James 3:17 Peace Humility Fairness

In Order To Be Spiritual (Gal. 5:16-18) But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.

In Order To Be Spiritual (Gal. 5:24-25) Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

In Order To Be Spiritual (2 Peter 3:18) but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

In Order To Be Spiritual (Romans 8:6-7) For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so

In Order To Be Spiritual (Matt. 22:37-40) And He said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind! This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.

In Order To Be Spiritual (Matt. 6:33) But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Col. 3:1) Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

In Order To Be Spiritual (Gal. 5:22-23) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

In Order To Be Spiritual (2 Peter 1:5-7) Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.

In Order To Be Spiritual (Phil. 3:13-14) Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
