10  COURSE DESCRIPTION:  This course aims to provide students with a thorough working knowledge and understanding of the need and possibilities for the use of Renewable Energy sources in the generation of electricity. It introduces them to the general methods used in solar, wind, hydro and geothermal, while focusing on Photovoltaic Systems. Topics covered include: I. types of PV systems; II. Sizing systems III. installation and maintenance of PV Systems. Mastery of these topics will enable the students to competently apply the knowledge and associated skills to work and further. 10

11 COURSE OBJECTIVES At the end of this course, the students should be able to: Appreciate the need for the use of renewable energy understand the economic and environmental benefits of using the various types Renewable energy sources. Differentiate between the different types of PV systems Understand the factors which affects output of energy sources(e.g. photo voltaic) Install a simple PV systems. 11
