2. Introduction In order of my assigment for Seminary, I will try you to show you some typical Belgian things that are attractive for the youth. This is what they should know of Belgium, from my opinion.

Short notes - Belgium is a federal parliamtentary monarchy - Our Prime Minister is Elio Di Rupo - Our king is King Philliphe (since 2013) - Belgium is home to 3 main languages : Dutch, French and German - Brussels, capital of Belgium, is also the capital of Europe - Belgium is member of the European Union - We pay with Euro’s

4. Typical Belgian food - French fries with steak or simmered meat - Brussels wafels or Liège wafels - Chocolat - Tomato with schrimps - Cheese and wine

5. Beer Beer is a very popular in and is one of most produced drinks in Belgium. There are many sorts of beer as ‘abdijbier’ or ‘trappist’. Some have a stronger tast than others. These are the most popular beer brands : - jupiler - Maes - Stella artois - Hoegaarden - Duvel - Vedett - Grimbergen - Heiniken

6. Party There are many big discobars where you go out and have a blast with friends. These discos are mostly expensive but totally worth it if you want to have fun at night with a nice drink. Big discobars in Belgium are : - Noxx Antwerp - Café D’Anvers - Carre - Avenue Brussels - Kitsch Club Knokke - Riva - The magic Lagoon - Fiesta Club Liège - Club Factory

7. Chocolat Chocolat is a specialty in Belgium. We are known all over the world because of our delicious sweetness. The most known form of chocolat are our ‘pralines ‘. Big Belgian Chocolat makers are : - Coté d’or - Callebaut - Guylian - Godiva - Leonidas - Milka - Nestlé

8. Sports Sport is very important here. Almost everyone practises it and thats why there is a big amount of sports that you can practise. So if you don’t like a particular sport you can easily switch to an other sport that you may like. I will give you the most popular sport in Belgium.

9. Soccer Soccer is a very popular sport with big teams like RSC Anderlecht and FC Bruges. Because of the Red Devils, our National Team,Belgian soccer has gain attention which is good for the Belgian Football Clubs. There are many stadiums all over the country and the big teams play in the Champions League, the most important League in Europe. If you want to watch soccer on tv, you can just search one of the many channels that sent one of the matches.

10. Cross – country riding Cross – country rinding is a sport where we have known many successes. It is almost the same as cycle racing but the difference is that it is ridin in forrest landscapes. There is a race every Sunday starting in december untill february and many people follow it on tv. Famous Belgian riders are Sven Nys, Niels Albert and Kevin Pauwels.

11. Tennis Tennis is known all over the world and is in many countries very popular, thats also the case here. We have a lot of tennis clubs where you can learn to play tennis or just can go play with friends. And we also have a tennis federation called ‘vtv’ who organizes tournaments all over the country. Famous Tennisplayers are : Justin Henin and Kim Clijsters
