4 The Myth Zeus saw Io while looking at the world, he went down to meet her The two of them had an affair for sometime Zeus feared that Hera would find out about Io so Zeus covered the world in a cloud turned her into a cow This only made Hera Suspicions, she went to see what was happening As Hera went to see Zeus She figured out that Zeus had done something When she got their and saw the cow she knew what he did and asked the cow as a gift to her Zeus couldn’t come up with a way to get her and Io out of the situation so he sadly gave Io to Hera. Hera didn’t want to watch the cow so she had Augus to watch her and he did Io just wondered around as a cow she went up the western coast of Greece and that’s why the islands there are called the Ionian islands and the sea between Greece and Rome is called the Ionian sea. Zeus wanted to see Io still, and turned himself into a bull and saw her. She got pregnant and then Zeus actually started to feel bad. Zeus asked Hermes for help, he asked Hermes to lull Argus into sleeping and stealing Argus. Hermes went down and lulled Argus to sleep, Hermes also killed Argus so he couldn’t wait up. Hera was angry when she found out Argus had been killed she took all of his eyes and but them on the tails of the peacock, But she wasn’t done with Io yet. Io was still in cow form so she sent horsefly's to drive her crazy. The horsefly's ran her all the way to Egypt where Zeus came down and changed her to a Human once again. Io gave birth to a son named Epaphus, Hera stole the child and Io spent most of her life trying to get her son back, it is believed she returned to Egypt after finally finding her son, it is believed she became the Egyptian god Isis.
