3 Tiny sacs surrounded by capillaries Gas exchange occurs here 3 Alveoli (singular = alveolus)

4 Oxygen moves from alveoli  blood to be delivered to the body’s cells Carbon dioxide moves from blood  alveoli to be exhaled as waste 4 Alveoli

5 Cellular Respiration Recall that oxygen is used by cells to break down glucose for energy Carbon dioxide is released from the cells as waste Breathing This oxygen comes from breathing in This carbon dioxide waste is breathed out 5 Breathing & Cellular Respiration
