Grading Rubric: Odyssey Character Guide  The character description is copied from Spark Notes  The image is an actual artistic artifact, that is housed in a museum, and can be found at the Google Art Project.  The image is cited in an outlined textbox, below the image, and in proper MLA format.  There are at least 5 interesting facts about the character or a quote from that character that can be found within the Odyssey.  The Roman name of the character is located at the top of the page.  The font is uniformed: same color, same size, same font.  The image and the citation textbox are the same size and placed appropriately.  The document is saved as the character’s name_the student’s name.  The power point is emailed before the end of class. 3. Odysseus / Ulysses The protagonist of the Odyssey. Odysseus fought among the other Greek heroes at Troy and now struggles to return to his kingdom in Ithaca. Odysseus is the husband of Queen Penelope and the father of Prince Telemachus. Though a strong and courageous warrior, he is most renowned for his cunning. His great grandfather was Hermes, who was the Olympian messenger god, and son of Zeus. 2.George Clooney’s character in the 2000 film Oh’ Brother, Where Art Thou was based on Odysseus. 3.Ithaca is a city in upstate New York! Ithaca is Gorges! 4.He is also a character in Homer’s The Iliad. 5.Nobody know the origin of the name Odysseus. It’s not Greek, it’s not Indo- European. Who knows? Nobody, not even professors!
