1 Prioritize your workload1 By the end of the workshop, you will: u Understand what time management is about. u Know guidelines for managing time effectively. u Be able to schedule time in the long, intermediate and short term. u Know how to plan study schedule. u Plan study schedules for the short, intermediate/long term.

2 Prioritize your workload 2 Activity In pairs, u Introduce your self. u Share your difficulties in time management. u Tell each other what you would like to take away from the workshop.

3 Prioritize your workload3 Time management is u setting and following a schedule of study u in order to efficiently organise yourself u in achieving goals u in the context of your life’s activities and resources.

4 Prioritize your workload 4 Time Management Guidelines u Monitor u Reflect u Be aware of time wasting u Know when you are productive u Have a (short) “To Do” list. u Have a daily/weekly planner. u Have a long term planner.

5 Prioritize your workload5 Prioritise and Organise In order to manage your time effectively and efficiently, u prioritise the importance of tasks you have to do; u organise your time to do them; u know what is urgent and what is important.

7 Prioritize your workload7 Activity Whole group activity: Brainstorm examples of u Urgent and important u Urgent but not important u Not urgent but important u Not urgent and not important

8 Prioritize your workload 8 Activity On your own, write down everything you have to do or plan to do in the next seven days, then categorise them according to the four categories of urgency and importance.

9 Prioritize your workload 9 Planning your Use of Time 1.Identify the goal. 2.Divide the overall job into manageable tasks. 3.Identify an outcome for each task. 4.Calculate a time for each new task. 5.Timetable the tasks. 6.A contingency plan.

10 Prioritize your workload 10 Planning Study Time - How Long? u A rough starting guide, for every hour in class, you should plan to study for two hours outside of class. Then adjust up or down as necessary. u Plan blocks of time (e.g. 50 mins study followed by a 10 mins break).

11 Prioritize your workload 11 Planning Study Time - What For? u Be specific about what you want to accomplish in each study period. u Congratulate yourself when you have accomplished the task. u Re-assess your schedule when you have not.
