Introduction Earth is called the water planet because ¾ of it is water. Everyday, people use more and more water. They cause dirt to get into clean water which makes it dirty water. Clean water then becomes more precious.

The three states of matter The three states of mater are solid, liquid, and gas. Earths water is found in all of these states. Solid water is called ice. Gas is water vapor. You can’t see water vapor because it is a gas in the air. Liquid Water is what we drink and what falls as rain. Earths water moves all around the earth, as it moves, it changes states. This pattern is called the water cycle.

Water on the ground Snow that falls to the earth either soaks in to the ground or flows over. Water flowing over is called surface water. Much surface water ends up in streams and rivers. Water soaked up is called ground water. It fills spaces between rocks, sand, and dirt. Rain, snow, and hail fall from clouds.

Evaporation The first stage of the water cycle occurs when the sun heats the water and heat causes the water to rise. When the water rises this stage is called evaporation.

Condensation As the water vapor rises it clings to dust partials and other water vapor partials combining eventually to form clouds. This stage is called condensation.

Precipitation The clouds get heavier, darker and when they cannot hold anymore water, precipitation falls to the ground due to gravity. Precipitation can fall in the form of sleet, hail, snow, or rain.

Clouds Cumulonimbus- Large fluffy rain clouds Nimbostratus- Thick layers of rain clouds Cirrostratus – High layers of clouds Altocumulus- Mid level fluffy clouds Cirrus- Feathery clouds

Cumulonimbus cloud

Cirrostratus cloud

Cirrus cloud

Conclusion I hoped you learned a lot about the water cycle in my presentation. Thanks for watching!!!
