4 Projects/Funders  Maximising Grants Project - Programme to address poverty and social exclusion in rural areas funded by DARD/PHA  Developing Health and Well-Being Services for Older People – Funded by Lloyds TSB  Community Savings Scheme  Strabane District Council  Western Health and Social Care Trust - SLA

5 Older Peoples Activities  Luncheon Club – Operates 3 days/week with approximately 40 participants/day  Meals On Wheels Service – Operates 3 days/week with approximately 25 participants/day  Respite For Carers – Provision of respite for families of older people

6 Older Peoples Activities  Foot Clinic – podiatry service operating out of the centre  IT Training – provision of basic IT skills  Work Shops – Provision of craft and physical activity programmes  Community Cohesion Project – inter-community older people activities

7 Awards/Achievements  In recognition of the services provided to Older People Dennett Interchange were the overall Northern Ireland winners in the Older Peoples section of the 2008 Calor Village of the Year

8 Awards/Achievements Judging Panel Quote “Donemana is a caring, considerate community that has provided an oasis for it’s older residents. The judges were inspired by the energy and enthusiasm of the older people they met in the village, for their passion to their community and to all the stories of community life shared.”

9 Research Work  Social Exclusion and Ageing in Diverse Rural Communities research Project – in collaboration with Irish Centre For Social Gerontology, NUI Galway. The study consisted of interviewing older participants from 10 rural communities across, both, Ireland and Northern Ireland

10 Research Work o The study aimed to explore how age and rurality combine over the life-course to impact on the likelihood of exclusion in later life. It also aimed to develop a conceptual framework that emphasises the role of individual and rural diversity in the construction of age-related rural social exclusion.

11 Future Plans/Projects North West Ageing Well Together (NWAWT)  Interagency Partnership of 30+ partners in Strabane/ L’Derry  Strategic Partnership – joint vision and plan improving services for older people  Older people led partnership
