3 THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES During Sukkot, two important ceremonies took place: The Hebrew people carried torches... The priest would draw water...

4 THE PROPHETIC SIGNIFICANCE The prophets came to see water/rain as a symbol of salvation and the work of God's Holy Spirit: Isaiah 12:3. With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Ezekiel 36:25. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean… Zechariah 14: 8 -9, 16 -17. ‘Living water’... ‘The Lord will be king over the whole earth...’...celebrate the feast of Tabernacles...

5 John 7:37-38. 37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within him.’ 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

9 John 7:37-38. 37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within him.’ 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.
