To fully receive the gift, you must be absolute in your faith.
15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!
16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-11)
11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

7. Hunger and Thirst
A Christian life not lived in the Spirit – is not a life of Joy!
John 10:10
I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
Matthew 5:6
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,   for they will be filled.
John 7:37-39
“Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.
38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.
Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Asking for the gift of the Spirit with passionate persistence
The NEXT STEP is to ask and Jesus will GIVE.
It is not really a matter of “asking” for the HOLY SPIRIT to come in – but to unleash the power of the Spirit that is within you!
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ, because he gives me strength.
