1 Instructions to Create Your PowerPoint 1. Open the template on my Fusion classroom page. 2. Choose your font and colors. 3. Create your slides: Slide 1: Add your name, your country, and a simple map. Slide 2: Complete the sentence starters about your country. Slides 3 & 4: Complete the comparison charts with at least three notes in each of the three columns (that’s nine notes on each slide). You do not need to use complete sentences. Try to give a variety of information (not all comparisons should be about sports, for example). See my examples for help. 4. Prepare for your presentation. Practice saying the name of your country correctly, and practice explaining your slides loudly, clearly and with confidence! You are the enthusiastic expert! 5. Turn in your PowerPoint to our Fusion page under Latin America Country Comparison Assignment. Title it your lastname.firstname. 1

3 Puerto Rico Introduction 3 1.The most interesting fact I found about Puerto Rico is the literacy rate is higher among youth than adults. 2. One thing that surprised me about Puerto Rico was that only 3% of the people work in agriculture. 3. One thing that did not surprise me about Puerto Rico was that it has a sunny and warm/ tropical climate.

4 Puerto Rico’s Physical Geography 4 Puerto Rico Has El Yungue the only rainforest on US land The size of Delaware and Rhode Island combined Highest elevation is Cerro De Punto at 4,390 feet Both Both border the Atlantic ocean Both include other islands: US= Hawaii PR= 4 other named islands U.S. Home to many climate zones, with the tip of Florida being the only tropical area The fourth largest country in the world Highest point in elevation is Mt. McKinley, Alaska at 20, 320 feet

6 Puerto Rico’s Human Geography 6 Puerto Rico 3.6 million people (remember as small as Delaware and RI combined) Housing made of brick and stucco with tile floors. Usually only have a bedroom air conditioner. Both Both have literacy rates in the high 90%’s Both have a average life expectancy at 78/79 years of age U.S. 320 million people (4 th largest land area country in the world) Type of house depends on region, most made of wood, brick or stucco. Most have air conditioners.
