5  Šariš castle  one of the biggest castle complexes in Slovakia, stretches over monticule of volcanic origin.  it is situated north-westwards of the town Veľký Šariš  it was permanently settled from the Neolithic to the 4th century AD  built in the 13th century.  the first written mention about the castle dates back to 1245  the castle was situated on Torysa trade road  castle burned down in 1678.
