5. But how did we find out about it?? Calcium is great, but somebody had to discover it! In 1808, Sir Humphrey Davy discovered calcium in England. He named it from the Latin “Calcis” which means “lime”

6. Calcium’s Properties Calcium is a silvery, soft metal. It reacts with water and air, has low flammability, and is insoluble in water.

7. Calcium is everywhere!! You can find it in milk, bones, shells, marble, chalk and even in cheese!

8. Other Facts About Calcium Calcium is actually a better conductor than copper! We don’t use calcium as widely because it has a chemical reaction with the air. Calcium can be found all over the world as limestone. You see it everyday!
