3 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT INVESTMENT GRANT (CDI) Support economic development efforts with an emphasis on downtown, community driven efforts Grants: 25% of eligible project costs, up to $250,000; Planning Grants: 25% of eligible project costs up to $25,000 FY16 funding: $1,500,000; Applications: once per year, competitive Eligible applicants: local units of governments Eligible activities: Building renovation, Historic preservation, Demolition, New construction, Infrastruc- ture investment, Professional services (Planning only)

4 CDI EVALUATION CRITERIA 1.Impact on Community Public/private partnerships developed Catalyst for development growth Community wide support Creation of jobs, increase of the tax base and stimulates private investment Enhances community attractiveness Size of the area impacted Supports smart growth & best downtown redevelopment practices 2.Financial Justification Demonstrates public and private sector need Project can not be scaled back 3.Compliments previous planning efforts 4.Readiness to Proceed Shovel ready & financial commitments in place

5 SITE ASSESSMENT GRANT Assists industrial or commercial redevelopment sites that are or may be adversely impacted by environmental contamination in defining the degree and extent of groundwater and soil contamination along with identifying and assessing vapor intrusion issues Grant up to $150,000 - 33% Match; FY16 funding: $1,000,000; Applications: ongoing Eligible Applicants: Local units of government Eligible Costs: Phase I & II environmental assessments, site investigations, Remedial action plans, Tank/hazardous waste removals, Demolition & asbestos abatement associated with demolition is eligible if it benefits the environmental assessment or investigation

6 BROWNFIELD REDEVELOPMENT GRANT Redevelopment of commercial and industrial sites that have been adversely impacted by environmental contamination Grant: Up to $500,000 – 70% Match ; FY16 funding: $3,500,000; Applications: ongoing Eligible Applicants: local units of governments, businesses, non-profits & individuals Eligible activities include: E nvironmental investigation, remediation or monitoring; Removal of hazardous waste containers; Soil removal, capping, barrier installation and vapor intrusion system; Demolition activities that will facilitate redevelopment

7 IDLE INDUSTRIAL SITES REDEVELOPMENT GRANT Implementation of redevelopment plans for large industrial sites that have been idle, abandoned, or underutilized for at least five years Grant: Up to $500,000 sites up to 10 acres; $1 million sites greater than 10 acres; 70% Match ; FY16 funding: $1,000,000; Applications: once per year, competitive Eligible Applicants: local governments Eligible activities include: demolition, environmental remediation, rehabilitation or infrastructure improvements defined in a redevelopment plan
