3. Wear U.S. Coast Guard Approved Life Jackets Buckles should be fastened and tight With your arms above your head there should be no excess room above the shoulders and the jacket should not ride up over your chin/face
6
4. Watch for dangerous waves and signs of rip currents.
7
5. If you are caught in a rip current, swim parallel to shore. Once free of the current, swim diagonally toward shore

6. Supervise Children. Designate a responsible adult to watch young children while in/around the bath, pool, or any other body of water For young children provide “touch supervision”, be close enough to reach the child at all times. Do not be involved in any distracting activity (such as reading, playing cards, on the phone; gardening, etc.) while supervising, even if lifeguards are present.

7. Use the Buddy System. 8. Install 4 Sided Fencing The fence should be at least 4 feet high and have self-latches out of the reach of children 9. Clear the Pool and Deck of Toys. So children are not tempted to enter the pool area unsupervised
10
10. Air-Filled or Foam Toys are not safety devices. "water wings", "noodles", or inner- tubes, should not be used instead of life jackets. 11. Avoid Alcohol before or during swimming, boating, water skiing, or supervising children.
11
12. Don’t let swimmers try to hold their breath for long periods of time. This can cause them to pass out (called “shallow water blackout”) and drown. Summary:
