2 GENERAL INFORMATION What is our aim? To host the annual SA Open and Elite National Championships. The details are as follows : Date: 15 th July 2016 and 16 th July 2016 Time: 08:00 till late (SA Open and Elite) THE DATES AND TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGED BASED ON THE No. OF ENTERIES Venue: Durban University of Technology – Steve Biko Campus – Berea- Durban – KwaZulu Natal Province Participation Fee: SA Open and Elite: R200.00 per individual category, R350.00 per team event Spectators: R30.00 under 18 years/ Children and R50.00 Adults Closing date for entries for the Elite and SA Open will be: 1 st July 2016 Entry fees must be deposited into KSA account, BY PROVINCES. Who will be eligible to participate? 1. SA Open Tournament: All provinces are allowed to enter unlimited individual per division(Brown – Black Belts). 2. Elite : Top 6 ranked athletes according to KSA Ranking including athletes living with disabilities. All Top Six Athletes will be awarded ranking points based on placing Entries have to be entered by Provinces. A hard copy and proof of payment must be e-mailed to the Championship Director Sensei Leonardo Ciutto e-mail: kznkaratekid@gmail.comkznkaratekid@gmail.com Weigh-in: will be done on Thursday 14 th July 2016and athletes found to be outside their weight category will be disqualified. All athletes must be medically fit before they can be allowed to participate. This is an Official National Event and only registered members from the affiliated provinces may enter

3 GENERAL CHAMPIONSHIP RULES 1. Athletes take part at their own risk. No claim may be made against KSA – WKF or any of the officials officiating on the day of the championship. 2. It is the responsibility of every Provincial Coach to explain the conditions/ rules to each athlete and/or parent before entering the championship. 3. Any athlete entered in an incorrect age or weight will be disqualified. Coaches and Team Managers must ensure that correct information is submitted. 4. Any athlete not reporting to his/her floor after 3-call out will be disqualified. 5. THE ELITE AND SA OPEN WILL RUN TO WKF RULES- WKF rules will apply during the championship. 6. Athletes must use WKF spec’d Protective gear. Breast protectors and body protectors are compulsory for female & Male competitors including mouth guard, red/blue mitts and belts, foot and shinguards.  Coaches: 1. Only the appointed coaches from each provinces may coach an athlete from his/ her province. 2. Only coaches wearing their full provincial tracksuit will be allowed to coach. Those wearing only tracksuit top or trouser/ Protea track suit won’t be allowed on the floor. 3. WKF rules on coaching must be strictly adhered to and non compliance to the rule and regulation disciplinary steps may be taken. Team Managers: 1. Team Managers must wear their official Provincial Attire (Navy blue blazer, white shirt, tie, gray pants, black shoes & socks) 2. Team Managers are not allowed in competition area

4 GENERAL CHAMPIONSHIP RULES Referees and Judges: 1. All officials must be dressed appropriately as per WKF rules, including table officials. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: It is requested that all athletes must bring along the following: Consent letter from parent/ Guardian/Indemnity form The following courses/ briefing are compulsory for all officials that will be officiating in this event including provincial coaches: REFEREES COURSE- compulsory to all Coaches: 14 July 2016, Time: TBA: Mr. L. 5 DIVISIONS SA Open event is open to all Brown and Black Belt students who are not ranked in the top 6 of that category in South Africa. (Your Elite Athletes) The Elite Event is open to the top 6 SA ranked students for that division nationally.

The Referees Course and Table Officials Course and Coaches Course will be held at the Tropicana on the Thursday.
