9 Outcome 1. Analysis and Practice in Context SAC -Short Tasks -Not a folio! -Three designs to analyse -Three design tasks -Industrial, Environment, Communication Design Fields

10 Outcome 2. Design Industry Practice SAC –Written SAC, under exam conditions. –Questions are similar to those you may receive in the exam –Focuses on what designers do in industry, researching different designers and their processes

11 Outcome 3. Developing a brief and generating ideas SAT –Start of your SAT Folio: Brief, Research, Ideas –You get to choose most of what you do, what direction you want to take your folio and what two final presentations you want to create –This is a long and important task, so it is important to start with a strong design brief and ideas.

12 VCE Expectations (Write these down! Date and sign!) 90% Attendance – important to be in class for all sessions Medical Certificates if you are away - Otherwise 0% and 0 marks for SACs - Must have medical certificate for SAT due dates or extensions because of ongoing illness Must complete short tasks to show Outcome knowledge – at least 90% of all short tasks. Must be prepared - Bring correct equipment, handouts, textbook etc. - Be on time! Lateness wastes everyone’s time!

On completion of this unit the student should be able to describe how visual communications are designed and produced in the design industry and explain factors that influence these practices. 17 TASK 1: Terminology Focus 1. Definitions Match the names of the categories with the definitions Method Do not use resources! No textbook, notes! Cut out or write down and cross off lists Move into groups first before sticking down! A3 sheets to create charts 2. Categorise Move the different terms into groups: Elements and Principles, Materials, Media, Methods,

18 TASK 2: Definitions Create your own definition for Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Sources (used in research) Create lists of examples for each category by talking to peers and reviewing notes Refer to any area or stage of design when creating lists of examples

19 Reminders! MONDAY 2 FEBRUARY: Holiday homework due (If not submitted, you will received a detention Monday lunchtime) HW: Sources and ICT case studies – Email or write down in book
