1 How to join Your ‘Pop Up’ Professional Learning Community 2012 – 2013

2  INTO Learning PLC’s use ‘Edmodo’ as a platform for sharing and discussion among members  Edmodo describes itself as “Secure social learning network for teachers and students”  It has been described as a ‘Facebook for Education’ 

3  Establish which PLC you are interested in by checking the upcoming schedule on www.intolearning.ie, Professional Communities www.intolearning.ie  Contact ljohnston@into.ie to register interestljohnston@into.ie  Optional – Check out Edmodo on www.edmodo.com www.edmodo.com

4 When you are sent your group entry code shortly before your group is due to open go to www.edmodo.com www.edmodo.com Follow the steps outlined in the next slides

5 Click on ‘I’m a Student’.

6 Enter your group code (from INTO Learning) a username, a password and your details.

7  You will be brought to the home page of your PLC which is where comments and resources are posted

8  Your facilitator will advise you on how to get the best from the interactive discussion and posting opportunities in Edmodo  He/she will interact on the forum each day through the posting of ideas/resources and through responding to forum discussion threads

9  The next slide shows an example of how an active discussion forum in the PLC might look.  The image is taken from a ‘test’ PLC group on INTO Learning  INTO Learning would like to thank all involved
