2 Welcome Intro My 5th year at White Bear Lake Our goal is for kids to have great experience

5 Football Rules Helmet on at all times on the field On time to every team function, this means EARLY Team socks and undershirt on at ALL games, if you wear sleeves they have to be black No iPods/phones/personal music on team bus rides Unexcused absence to practice is ½ game suspension We RUN to everything we do Injured player dresses in full for practice unless it’s a head injury All work with trainer done by BMFO on game days We are White Bear Lake Football, you are special and will act with class, pride and integrity at all times, GO BEARS!!! *Any violation of these rules is subject to punishment at coach’s discretion

6 Advice for Parents 1)Make sure your son gets off to a good academic start – Skyward, Coaching Staff Support. 2)Encourage your son to be a multi sport athlete as long as possible. 3)Encourage your son to “hang in there” with football – understand the process – “A”, “B”, JV Team. 4)Prepare your son for the path, not the path for your son. 5)Love your son, don’t fall in love with him. 6)Release your son to athletics, let us coach them

Coach for Varsity is coach Determan, coach Fitzpatrick for Sophomores You have to meet your standard to earn your bear claw Fundraisers do NOT count towards community service. 12 th graders- 12 hours 11 th graders- 10 hours 10 th graders- 8 hours 9 th graders- 0 hours

16 Community Service What are some ways I can serve? Church Middle Schools Elementary Schools Improve facilities (Paint, clean, etc) Open ended (Come up with stuff on your own) Contact coaches, neighbors, youth coaches, teachers, etc to find ideas

19 Summer Weight Training Equipment issue is June 6-8th at South after school, max out lifting for summer done at this time Sign up on website It prevents injury Sessions 7:00-8:30, 8:30-10:00- Preferred varsity sessions for 10-12 th graders Monday-Thursday Coach Hintz and varsity coaches 10 th /Varsity football workouts 10:00AM M-TH, depending on the day, different positions practice Train with US Dead week is July 1-10

22 Practice All players must be at all practices A unexcused absence to practice is an automatic 1/2 game suspension, NO EXCEPTIONS An unexcused absence is no call, no note and no communication with a coach If you are not at school, it is considered a excused absence If injured, you still fully suit up for practice this is a 9-12 policy Only exception is a head injury

23 Midnight Madness By law we cannot begin until 12:00AM August 15 th VARSITY ONLY (9th/10 th /youth players come watch with supervision) We want to start the very first second we can Players will be home by 1:30 Fans are strongly encouraged Players will report to South at 9:15PM for a movie

24 Two A Days August 15 th 9AM-3:15PM most days, check calendar for adjustments You will need a lunch, tennis shoes, t-shirt, football gear at all of two a days First 5 days are non contact It is hot and you are expected to report in shape (Summer weight training) You are not allowed to leave for lunch or leave campus without a parent during practice times We have practice, meetings, weight lifting, film study, conditioning, etc.

25 Football Preview Night August 22nd Each family will be responsible to bring a dish Introduce teams Introduce coaches Pictures will be August 18 th at South starting at 2:15.

26 Labor Day and MEA 10 th no practice Labor Day, Varsity afternoon practice 3PM MEA October 20 th and 21st 10 th grade No practice Thursday or Friday of MEA Varsity players off from Thursday afternoon of MEA until Monday! Playoffs start the following week

27 Lettering Requirements 100pts= Letter 75 points awarded for 4 years of playing White Bear Lake Football 5 points awarded for each quarter played in varsity football games, special teams included. 1play = 1 quarter 30 points awarded for meeting community service standard 30 points awarded for no unexcused absences from practices, games, scrimmages, etc. 20 points awarded for being a team captain or special teams captain of the week 30 points awarded for maintaining a 3.0 or higher GPA during the season. 20 points for Act(s) of sportsmanship or character witnessed by coaching staff or brought to the attention of coaching staff by an external witness (teacher, staff member, administrator, parent, official, etc.) in which an athlete has demonstrated the above mentioned character or integrity 40 points awarded for selling 10 bear cards and completing 10 letters for letter writing fundraiser Minus 20 points Act(s) witnessed by coaching staff or brought to the attention of coaching staff by external witness (teacher, staff member, administrator, parent, official, etc.) in which an athlete has demonstrated the lack of character or integrity Minus 50 points MSHSL violation during season

28 Players Fundraising You need to do your part You will all sell your bear cards and turn them in (Our biggest fundraiser) 9-12 August 16 th you will receive the cards You sell 20 cards, you get $50 Letter writing in the summer Cub Bagging in the winter

29 Player Pack Dry fit shirt, shorts, practice jersey, game socks Cost is $60. Available to purchase at summer weights, checks made out to WBL Football Equipment handout will be June 6th-8th after school at South campus. Please purchase your own mouth guard and girdle
