16 Why Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) Response to several concerns: ◦ Former funding model was not predictive ◦ Districts had too many “strings attached” to funds and not enough local control of the funds ◦ Funding gap continues to remain between some districts

18 Why Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) LCAP is the plan that reflects a districts programmatic and budgetary priorities LCAP provides a framework around 8 state priorities LCAP provides a plan and process for ensure stakeholder input, accountability and needs of students are addressed

20 Student Achievement Data LVUSD students overall rank very high in achievement English Language Learners and Special Education Students show progress rates that are slightly lower than overall student achievement There is a need for additional classes to complete some career pathways

21 Parent Survey Data Overall high satisfaction with the overall educational program for students Feel their children feel safe and connected to their school(s) Feel that LVUSD teachers are highly effective Interested in increased integration of technology in instruction Interested in more information regarding alternative education options

22 Student Survey Students at high school are currently taking a survey Results of the Student Survey will be analyzed by the LCAP Parent/Staff Advisory Committee – and revisions / additions to LCAP will be considered

23 Proposed Goals 1. All LVUSD schools will provide a safe and positive learning environment (including facilities conducive to learning) for all students 2. All LVUSD students will have access to multiple courses, pathways, 21 st Century learning tools and opportunities throughout their K -12 education 3. All LVUSD students will be grade level competent in reading and writing (based on the common core standards) by the end of their 3 rd grade year

24 Proposed Goals continued 4. All LVUSD students will be grade level competent (based on common core standards) in math by the end of their 6 th grade year 5. All LVUSD students will graduate, college and career ready in all subject areas, based on the common core standards 6. LVUSD will provide specialized services and options beyond the core academic program 7. LVUSD will prudently allocate resources to ensure that students will attain common core aligned, college and career readiness skills

25 Gathering Input 1. Visit each “proposed goal” chart 2. Staff member will be available to provide background, answer questions, etc. 3. Provide feedback on each goal and supporting actions on post-its provided 4. Record ideas or questions that are not related to a specific goal on the “parking lot” chart 5. Write any questions for superintendent’s written response on sheet provided
